Report from the 2005 visit.

The visit in October 2005 was a great success supported by some 59 cadets from many Squadrons across the Wing.

The cadets visited many historic sections of the Royal Navy & the Royal Marines. They also visited the Armament Museum at fort Nelson and the Submarine Museum.

The 2004 information report and photos:-

Over 100 cadets and staff from 12 Squadrons in Dorset & Wilts Wing attended a three-day training course aboard HMS Bristol, moored in Portsmouth Harbour.

VIP visitors Air Commodore and Mrs Chitty joined them for part of the course and took a great interest in the various activities, which included visits to HMS Warrior and HMS Victory, the Submarine Museum and the Action Stations exhibit, Fort Nelson, the Mary Rose and a tour of the harbour by boat. Relaxation came in the form of a visit to the local ice skating rink.

Cadets also had an opportunity to try their hand at rowing and sailing dinghies, where they were assisted by Sea Cadets from TS Achilles based in Trowbridge, Wiltshire.

The visit to HMS Bristol is a regular event in the Wing calendar of activities and gives cadets a unique opportunity to see what life is like in the "Senior Service". For most, this was their first experience of living aboard a ship, and also an opportunity to learn something about Navy traditions.
